FORT MYERS, Fla. – After going 2-0 in the circle, including a two-hit complete-game shutout last week, FGCU softball freshman Shelby Morgan (High Springs, Fla./Sante Fe HS) was named the Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week for the first-time in her career, as announced by the league office on Monday for the week of April 3-8.

Morgan led the Eagles to a 3-1 conference record on the week with a split against Lipscomb (W 1-0, L 14-5) and a sweep against Belmont (9-1, 12-6).

Morgan threw a complete-game two-hit shutout in a pitching duel against three-time A-Sun Pitcher of the Week Whitney Kiihnl from Lipscomb. She finished the weekend with a 2-0 record and a 0.58 ERA on one earned run, in 12 innings of work.

The High Springs, Fla. product picked up her 15th win of the season against Belmont in a 9-1 run-rule win in game one of the doubleheader. Morgan pitched all five innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits.

FGCU returns to the field on Saturday for a doubleheader against A-Sun foe Mercer on Senior Day at 2 p.m. at the FGCU Softball Complex.
