FGCU Softball Announces Summer Camp Dates

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU softball program has announced its summer softball camp dates for girls of all skill levels, ages 12 and up. FGCU head coach Dave Deiros will host the camp, while assistant coach Alycia Bachkora and members of the 2012 squad will help run the sessions as well.

The camp will provide well-rounded instruction of the game and an enjoyable and rewarding experience for each camper. The camper-to-instructor ratio will be kept low in order to provide the best possible instruction and attention to each camper. The camp will be split into three sessions including, hitting, pitching and defensive. There will also be an All Skills Camp from July 9-11. The schedule is listed below:

• Hitting Camp – June 19-20 - 9 a.m.-noon

• Pitching Camp – June 19-20 – 1-4 p.m.

• Defensive Camp – June 19-20 – 1-4 p.m.

• All Skills Camp – July 9-11 – 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Camp Prices: Hitting: $90 Pitching: $90 Defense: $90 All Skills: $180

Combinations: Hitting and Pitching/Defense: $170 ($10 off)

All Skills with one other Camp: $255 ($15 off)

All Skills with two other Camps: $340 ($20 off)

Family Discount—10% off the registration fee for each family member. Team Discount—10% off the registration for each team member (min. 4 members)

**Registration Deadline is Friday, June 15 for Hitting, Pitching, and Defense.

**Registration Deadline is Thursday, July 5 for All Skills Camp. **Add $10 per camp for late registration with no Discounts.

The Hitting Camp Objectives are to teach the correct mechanics and mental approach needed to be a successful batter or slapper, it is de-signed for the advanced hitter who will be evaluated using a variety of techniques including hitting drills designed to accelerate skill levels.

The Pitching Camp Objectives are to teach the fundamentals required to throw a pitch correctly, with the spin and velocity as on target as possible.

The Defensive Camp Objectives to teach the necessary fundamentals to become a solid reliable defender. We will develop proper mechanics in throwing, receiving, and fielding. Individual work at a player’s specific position (including catcher) will be incorporated with the skills utilized at these positions.

Deiros is first and only softball coach in FGCU history with a 414-165-2 record in their first ten seasons of competition (.715 winning percentage), including a 182-100 record in his first five seasons of Division I in the Atlantic Sun Conference. He led his team to the 2008 Regular Season A-Sun Conference Championship and the 2009 team was nationally ranked.
