FORT MYERS, Fla. – After collecting more postseason hardware last week, Atlantic Sun All-Tournament team members freshman Shelby Morgan (High Springs, Fla./Santa Fe HS) and sophomore Chelsea Zgrabik (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) picked up another postseason honor, earning a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-South Region second team.

Morgan, who was named A-Sun Tournament MVP last week, has a 22-6 overall record with a 1.38 ERA, which ranks 23rd in the nation. The High Springs, Fla. product was even better in A-Sun games, holding opponents to a league-best .171 batting average with three shutouts against Kennesaw State, Lipscomb and ETSU. Morgan finished the conference season with an 8-1 record on eight complete games and an A-Sun-leading 0.68 ERA.

Zgrabik led the A-Sun in multiple categories during A-Sun play, including home runs (8), RBI (24), batting average (.439), hits (25), slugging percentage (.965), doubles (6) and total bases (55). The Venice, Fla native has 14 multi-hit games and 15 multi-RBI contests.  She blasted two home runs against ETSU, including a grand slam, and currently has a 13-game hitting streak. Zgrabik leads the team with 13 home runs and 53 RBI heading into the Gainesville Regional this weekend.

The NFCA honors student-athletes from 10 NFCA regions. A total of 263 players representing 129 different institutions comprise this season’s regional teams, including first and second teams for each region.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America first, second or third teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.

Last season, senior Courtney Platt was named to the NFCA All-South Region second team.
