FORT MYERS, Fla. – Marking the seventh time in program history, the FGCU swimming and diving team was named to the list of 2014 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Spring Scholar All-America Teams, announced by CSCAA officials late Wednesday evening.

The Spring Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams that have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the semester coinciding with the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship.

The Green and Blue continued their perfect streak of receiving the honor after posting a 3.32 GPA for the spring semester.

“I am delighted that my girls understand how important grades are to our team culture and the university,” head coach Neal Studd said. “They continue to pursue excellence in everything they do in and out of the pool. I am lucky to be head coach for such a group of talented young ladies.”

The success the Eagles saw in the classroom matched that of their accomplishments in the water as they ended the season with a 5-3 (1-0 CCSA) record, beat numerous high-major programs, captured silver at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championship and placed 32nd at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. Over the year the Eagles placed first in 58 races and set 12 program records.

FGCU will return to action in its home pool, the FGCU Aquatic Center, in the fall of 2014. For up-to-date coverage of FGCU women’s swimming and diving, follow us on Twitter @FGCU_WSWIM and visit www.FGCUAthletics.com where full recaps and results will be available.
