FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast sand volleyball team hosts its first-ever home match on Friday, March 30 vs. in-state foe Stetson. The match, which will be played at Estero Community Park, is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Estero Community Park is located at 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd in Estero, Fla., approximately 10 minutes from FGCU’s campus. The facility is a 55-acre multipurpose park that has three lighted sand volleyball courts.
The Eagles (1-3) come into Friday’s match after picking up their first win of the season over Stetson (4-5), 4-1, at the Seminole Sand Battle held at Florida State’s Seminole Sand Volleyball Complex last weeked (Mar. 24).
Holly Youngquist (Estero, Fla./Evangelical Christian HS) and Kaitlin Holm (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers HS/Marshall) will play as FGCU’s No. 1 this weekend, while Karina Mambuca (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) and Olivia Mesner (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River HS) will play at the No. 2 spot. Brooke Kohler (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter HS/Clemson) and Brittany Muse (Arcadia, Fla./DeSoto County HS) enter the contest as the Green and Blue’s No. 3 pairing. Rounding out FGCU’s team this weekend will be Jill Hopper (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown HS) and Whitney Masters (Muncie, Ind./Wapahani HS) at No. 4 and Gigi Meyer (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) and Camil Dominguez (Santo Domingo, D.R./Santa Teresita) in the No. 5 spot.
