Daniel and McCoullough Named CCSA Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Florida Gulf Coast freshman Leah Daniel (Winnipeg, Canada) and sophomore Sarah McCoullough (Lakeland, Fla.) have been selected as the CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Dec. 1-7, it was announced today.

Daniel had an outstanding performance last week, helping the Eagles to a second place finish at the Miami Invitational. She set two individual school and Conference record, first in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.01 and then in the 500 free with a time of 4:50.20, three seconds faster than the previous record. She was a member of three school record setting relays and one Conference record setting relay. Her anchor leg of the 800 free relay, (1:49.28 split) helped FGCU to set a new CCSA record by eight seconds in 7:26.31. She split 23.8 in the 200 free relay and 52.34 in the 400 free relay. Daniel also became only the second swimmer under 17 minutes this season in the mile. Her time of 16:59.54 is third all-time in the Conference and lands a first place spot so far this season. She passed through the 1000 mark in another school and Conference record of 10:17.31. She swam a 4:26.26 in the 400 IM medley ahead of the Conference and school record, only to be touched out by teammate Rosy Murray, lowering the record to 4:24.73. She also managed a 1:06.78 in the 100 breaststroke and a 24.63 in the 50 free.

McCoullough landed two fifth place finishes at the Miami Invitational, scoring 234.45 on the 1M dive (fourth in the CCSA this season) and 236.00 on the 3M dive (second in the CCSA this season).
