FORT MYERS, Fla. – This morning the Florida Gulf Coast University Swimming & Diving Team hosted their annual Blue/Green scrimmage at the FGCU Aquatics Center. The Green Team defeated the Blue Team by a score of 165-133. Third year head coach Neal Studd was impressed with the composure his newcomers exhibited, saying, “In these first five weeks I’ve already seen improvement from some returners and newcomers. I’m looking forward to watching this team mature even more within the coming weeks.”

Next Saturday the Eagles open the season in Atlanta against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Georgia Tech and Southeastern Conference competitor Alabama. Coach Studd, the 2009 Conference Coach of the Year, was encouraged by his squad’s poise and fierce competitiveness at today’s meet. “With added depth and experience to this year’s team, I am anxious to see their hard work pay-off. The 2009-10 schedule has some challenging meets, but that will only make us stronger.”
