|
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU swimming & diving team will host a tri-meet Friday evening, with Florida Atlantic and the University of Tampa traveling to Fort Myers. The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at the FGCU Aquatics Center located on campus.
The Eagles are looking to continue their strong start to the 2009-10 season. FGCU comes into Friday night’s meet with a 4-3 record, with the only three losses coming to Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Florida State. Earlier this month the Eagles competed against FAU, with FGCU topping the Owls, 211-89. Last Saturday, the Eagles trounced Florida International, 205.05-92.5, the third time this year FGCU has accumulated 200+ points against an opponent.
FAU is also coming off of a win over FIU, as the Owls defeated the Golden Panthers two weeks ago, 143-96. Tampa, the only Division II opponent on the schedule this season, defeated Florida Southern, 158-101, on October 10, their only meet this season.
This will mark the sixth time the Eagles and Owls have faced each other, with FGCU holding a 3-2 edge all-time. FGCU has also won the last three meets, including earlier this season. FGCU has defeated Tampa in their two previous meetings, beating the Spartans last season by a score of 236-58.
