Wednesday, November 03, 2010

FORT MYERS, Fla. – For the second consecutive week, the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) named FGCU women’s swimmer junior Vicky Cadge (Long Melford, Suffolk, United Kingdom/Kelly College) Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday.

Cadge earned her second consecutive weekly honor and third this season after improving all of her times this past weekend in the Eagles’ home meet against FIU. Cadge continued her winning ways in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.12. She also would have placed first in the 100 fly with a time of 56.17, but FGCU swam the event as exhibition. The junior also swam anchor in the 200-medley relay with a split time of 23.42.

This is the third time this season that Cadge has been honored and the fourth time an Eagle swimmer has picked up the award out of possible five weeks. Classmate Alessandra Cianci (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) also picked up the award on October 11.

After a short break, FGCU will be back in the pool at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga., in a meet that will include some the nation’s top competition. Joining the host Yellow Jackets will be Michigan State, Florida and Clemson. The invite begins on Friday, November 19 and concludes on November 21.
