Wednesday, January 12, 2011

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Following its sweep of conference foes last Saturday, the FGCU swimming & diving team received nine Top 25 votes in the TYR / CSCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Poll announced on Wednesday.

The Eagles are one of 63 women’s teams to earn votes and are ahead of South Carolina, Nebraska, and Villanova. FGCU is the only team from the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) receiving votes. The next poll will be released on February 17.

This is the second consecutive poll in which the Blue and Green have earned votes. FGCU received five votes in the coaches poll after finishing in eighth at the Georgia Tech Invite in November.

FGCU hosts conference rival UNF on Saturday at noon at the FGCU Aquatics Center. This is the final conference meet before the Eagles defend their back-to-back CCSA Champions at the CCSA Championship beginning on February 17.
