FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU senior swimmer Viktoria Hyddmark (Lund, Sweden/Polhemskolah) has been named to the 2010-2011 Capital One Academic All-District 3 At-Large first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America conduct nominations and voting for the All-America programs.
Hyddmark is now eligible to be selected as a member of the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
A four-time Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) honoree, Hyddmark has been part of three straight CCSA champion swimming & diving teams. She owns FGCU records in both the 100 and 200 backstroke and has recorded two NCAA final cut times. This season Hyddmark took first in both the 100 and 200 back at the CCSA championship and was part of the first-place 200 IM relay team to earn All-Conference status.
Hyddmark took home the prestigious Eagle Scholar Athlete award, the highest honor FGCU bestows upon a graduating senior student-athlete. The award recognizes the ability of the winner to combine athletic and academic success (minimum 3.20 GPA) with community service.
Graduating with a bachelor’s of science in biotechnology with a double minor in biology and chemistry, Hyddmark has already been accepted to the Ph.D. program at the University of Florida and carries a GPA of 3.98. The three-time CCSA All-Academic honoree presented a genetics study at the FGCU Annual Research Day in 2009 and then again in 2010, with a study on a plant-based diabetes medication. The Sweden native earned a spot on the President’s List (4.0 GPA) four times and earned Who’s Who recognition in 2009.
