FORT MYERS, Fla. – After their performances in the All-Florida Invitational last weekend, FGCU swimming freshman Emma Svensson (Uppsala, Sweden/Celsiusskolan) has been selected as the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while sophomore teammate Kamryn McNamara (Tampa, Fla./Gaither HS) has been named as the CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week, ending on October 10.

This is the second consecutive week that FGCU has swept the weekly awards. Last week, Leah Daniel (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Grant Park HS) and diver Alex Valder (Tampa, Fla./Sickles HS) earned the honors.

Svensson swam multiple events at the All-Florida Invitational, breaking two FGCU school records in the 50 free (23.28) and 100 free (50.91). In the 200-free relay, Svensson swam the first leg of the relay touching in at 23.43, while helping her relay team finish third with a time of 1:35.07. In the 200 medley relay, Svensson led off the relay in 25.61, faster than any competitor, helping the team finish second with a time of 1:43.37. Only the Florida Gators relay team was faster at 1:43.63. She finished the three-day event by claiming two fifth place finishes in the 100 free (50.91) and the 400 free relay (3:28.50).

McNamara finished in 12th place in the 1-meter event at the All-Florida Invitational with a score of 207.95. She also participated in the 3-meter, placing 11th and scored 209.80 points. This is the Tampa native’s first CCSA Diver of the Week award.
