Having not raced in its home pool since October of 2013, the FGCU women’s swimming and diving team is ready to make up for lost time with a 2014-15 schedule which lists eight home contests and 13 total.

FGCU women’s swimming and diving head coach Neal Studd announced Tuesday the addition of former University of Southern California All-American Amanda Smith to the coaching staff. Smith will join the Eagles’ staff as an assistant coach, effective Aug. 12.

With an Olympic Gold medalist for a mother, Kira Toussaint has a lot to live up to, but she’s well on her way. This Netherlands native is the first swimmer from FGCU to be named to the All-American Team and was the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Swimmer of the Year. She captured eight FGCU program records and was the university’s first swimmer to stand on the awards podium at the NCAA Championships – all as a freshman.

FGCU swimming and diving head coach Neal Studd announced Friday the addition of Pieter Ritz to the coaching staff. Ritz will join the Eagles as a volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming season.

As the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland get underway this week, a pair of swimmers from FGCU will take to the pool to compete for their respective countries. Junior Lani Cabrera will compete for Barbados while incoming freshman Katie Armitage will swim for the host nation, Scotland.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Coming off another extremely successful season which brought FGCU five Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championships and several individual records, athletic department officials have named Mike Murray and Jordi Vives as co-winners of the 2013-14 Most Outstanding Male Student-Athlete Award and Kira Toussaint and Kelly Perzanowski as the co-winners of the Most Outstanding Female Student-Athlete Award.

Marking the seventh time in program history, the FGCU swimming and diving team was named to the list of 2014 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Spring Scholar All-America Teams, announced by CSCAA officials late Wednesday evening.

After seven days of competition at the 2014 Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships, four from the FGCU swimming and diving team collected a total 12 medals in the biannual event, which ran July 1-7 at the Aquatic Centre of Barbados.
