Swimming & Diving in Second After Day One at Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio, - The FGCU Women’s Swimming & Diving team is in second place after one day at the 14th annual Miami (Ohio) Invitational. The Eagles combined team score of 116 is nine behind Oakland’s 125 in the 12 team field.

Courtney Gallo won the 1650 yard Freestyle for the Eagles with a personal best time of 16:51.24. She finished over 16 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor in the event. Taylor Cooke placed 8th in the event with a time of 17:26.54.

FGCU also placed 4th in the 800 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:40.49. Cooke, Diana Granville, Viktoria Hyddmark and Rachael Rein comprised the team for FGCU which earned 56 points in the relay. The meet continues today and will conclude on Saturday.

FGCU’s next meet will be at the FGCU/Lee County Aquatic Center on January 5 as they host St. Louis.
