Swimming & Diving Ranked 17th in CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Poll

FORT MYERS, Fla., The FGCU women’s Swimming and Diving team has moved up four spots in the www.Collegeswimming.com Mid-Major top-25. The first year Eagles are ranked 17th in this week’s poll. FGCU made their debut in the poll on November 16 at 21st.

FGCU is the highest ranked team in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA). Davidson, checks in at 19th while FGCU’s next opponent, St. Louis is ranked 15th in the poll. In the last event FGCU participated in, the 14th Miami (Ohio) Invitational and placed fourth out of 14 teams. Two Eagles won individual events in the meet. Courtney Gallo finished nearly 16 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the 1650 yard Freestyle with a personal-best time of 16:51.24. Cori Lallier won the 200 yard butterfly with a mark of 2:05.69, both times are the top mark in the conference.

The Eagles will be back in action when they host St. Louis on January 5 at 9:00 am at the FGCU/Lee County Aquatics Center.
