FORT MYERS, Fla. - A pair of Eagle swimmers enjoyed success over the summer while swimming in multiple events. After an outstanding freshman year for the Eagles, Viktoria Hyddmark continued her success while swimming at the Swedish Nationals in July. She posted a 2:20.86 (6th) in the 200 meter Backstroke and a 1:05.93 (7th) in the 100 meter Backstroke. Viktoria will look to continue her already impressive swimming career this winter and has set the bar high for her fellow swimmers. When asked about her expectations on the upcoming season, she said, “I am looking forward to an exciting new season with a team containing a lot of returners but also a lot of new members. I think we have a very strong team this year and that we are going to do great things this season!”

Another FGCU swimmer, incoming freshman, Leah Daniel, swam for the Manitoba Marlins Swim Club this past summer. Most notably she participated in the Canadian Olympic Trials. At Trials she competed in four events and placed in two B finals earning 11th place in the 800m freestyle (9:04.70) and 13th in the 400m free (4:21.87). Because of her success at Olympic Trials she was selected for a Development Team to represent Canada at the 2008 North American Challenge Cup. Leah commented on her success this past summer, saying, “Swimming this summer was great. I swam well and gained a lot of international experience. It was awesome racing as a member of Team Canada against other countries.
