CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Florida Gulf Coast freshman Rosy Murray (Waterlooville, United Kingdom) and Florida sophomore Gaby Shaw (Boynton Beach, Fla.) have been selected as the CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Sept. 27-Oct. 5, it was announced today.
Murray picked up the first 2008-09 CCSA Women’s Swimmer of the Week award, with outstanding performances at FAU last weekend. Beginning the day with a dominant performance in the 1000 yard freestyle, Murray swam a 10:24.80, setting a freshman record with the first place finish. The nearest competitor was teammate Courtney Gallo with a time of 10:37.97. Murray again cruised by the field in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 5:05.34, nearly four seconds ahead of second place. Murray capped off her day with a six second win in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:26.68, an FGCU and CCSA record.
Shaw earned the first 2008-09 CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week award with a first place score of 229.45 on the 1M dive and placed 5th on the 3M with a score of 172.30.
