Eagle's Defeat FIU 148-84

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU Eagles are victorious after another strong performance; beating FIU 148 to 84. The Eagles recorded a clean sweep in the pool, placing first in every swimming event they participated in. For a third straight meet, the 200 yard Medley Relay team comprised of Viktoria Hyddmark, Vicky Cadge, Margie Chamberlin, and Rachael Rein had the Eagles ahead early after only one event.

Freshman Vicky Cadge paced the Eagles throughout the meet recording both school and pool records in the 200 yard IM (2:06.19) and the 200 yard Breaststroke (2:23.41).

FGCU’s Taylor Cooke took first place in the long distance freestyle events with a 10:30.12 in the 1000 yard Free and a 5:10.11 in the 500 Free.

The Eagles swept first, second, and third place in the 200 yard IM, 100 yard Free, and the 500 yard Free.

FGCU divers were lead by Gaby Shaw who finished with a score of 207.30 on the 1 meter board and 172.72 on the 3 meter board.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, November 22, 2008, when they take on in state rival Florida Atlantic and Division II powerhouse University of Tampa in a tri-meet at the FGCU Aquatics Center.
