FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU Swimming and diving team finished the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record. The Eagles beat Florida Atlantic for the second time this season by a score of 179-121. FGCU knocked off Tampa 236-58, and the Eagles defeated Florida A&M 254-13. FGCU had solid performances across the board taking two of the top three spots from FAU in eleven of the sixteen total events.
Freshman Vicky Cadge paced the Eagles throughout the quad-meet with three first place finishes; the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:06.02), the 200 yard Breaststroke (2:23.80), and the 20 yard IM (2:06.47).
Freshman Rossy Murray added two more first place finishes, one in the 1650 yard Freestyle (17:14.20) and the other in the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:58.65), during the meet for the Eagles.
Junior Margie Chamberlin provided another strong performance for the Eagles with a first place finish in both the 100 yard Butterfly (57:36) and the 200 yard Butterfly (2:04.96).
Four Eagle swimmers, Margie Chamberlin, Leah Daniel, Taylor Cooke, and Rachael Rein rounded the meet out with a first place finish in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay with a final time of 3:32.88.
Karmin McNamara led all Eagle divers in the 1 meter (244.42) and 3 meter (242.92) diving boards.
The FGCU Swimming and diving team will be back in action as they travel to Oxford, Ohio to participate in the 15th Annual Miami Invitational hosted by Miami University. The competition begins on December 4th and wraps up December 6th.
