Eagles Rout Indian River State College; Fall to Florida
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Eagles split this weekend during their tri-meet beating Indian River State College 90.50-20.50 and losing to the University of Florida.
The Eagles 400 Freestyle Relay ‘A’ team of Margie Chamberlin (54.79), Leah Daniel (54.57) Rosy Murray (53.33), and Teri Lytle (53.22) tied Indian River with a final time of 3:35.91.
Also, Freshman Vicky Cadge (2:21.70) and Sophomore Catrina Silveira (2:26.31) took the 1st and 2nd overall finish in the 200 Yard Breaststroke.
The Eagles finishes one, two, three against Indian River State College in the 1000 Freestyle. Team Co-Captain Courtney Gallo finished first (10:26.57), Taylor Cooke finished second (10:38.82) , and team Co-Captain Katie Oke placed third (10:55.14).
The Eagles put together another solid performance against Indian River State College taking the first place spot in eight events.
Among the first place finishes against Indian River State College were Freshman Rosy Murray, who placed first in the 400 IM (4:32.79), Rachael Rein, who finished the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:04.12) in the top spot, and Margie Chamberlin, who finished first in the 200 Butterfly (2:06.06).
The Eagles were paced by Sarah McCollough on both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving boards as she turned in a 230.60 and a 234.90 to grab a first and second place finish against Indian River State College.
The Eagle lost to Florida by a score of 84-28.
FGCU Swimming and Diving will be back in action on February 19 as they look to avenge their second place finish from a year ago at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships.
