CCSA Names Leah Daniel Swimmer of the Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU’s Leah Daniel has been named CCSA Swimmer of the Week after winning two events on Saturday, the conference announced Wednesday.

Daniel, a sophomore from Winnipeg, Manitoba, led the Eagles to their first-ever victory over the University of Miami at FGCU’s tri-meet that included Florida State. She won the 1000 free by nearly five seconds with a time of 10:12.89. Daniel then captured another win, finishing the 500 free in 4:59.12, to win by more than four seconds. She capped off her day with a third-place finish in the 400 IM, touching in 4:30.32.

FGCU will be back in action on the road this weekend, traveling to Miami to take on Florida International in a dual meet on Saturday, October 24th, at 11 AM. The Eagles return to their home pool the following week, hosting a tri-meet with Florida Atlantic and Tampa on Friday, October 30th, at 6 PM.
