FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University swimming & diving team looks to remain perfect in CCSA competition when they travel to Statesboro, Ga., to compete in a quad meet featuring four CCSA schools. The Eagles will compete against Georgia Southern, North Florida, and Gardner-Webb. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Georgia Southern’s Recreation and Activities Center.
The Blue and Green are coming off of a resounding 174-76 defeat of Radford on Tuesday afternoon at the FGCU Aquatics Center. The Eagles have not lost a dual meet since October 17, 2009, when they fell to Florida State. FGCU currently owns an 8-3 overall record and a perfect 3-0 record against CCSA opponents.
North Florida (5-2 overall, 5-1 CCSA) defeated Radford 141-82 last week, three days prior to FGCU’s defeat of the Highlanders. The Blue and Green are 3-0 all-time against UNF, including a 181.5-116.5 in Jacksonville earlier this season. That loss was the first of the year for the Ospreys, and still stands as the only blemish in CCSA competition for UNF.
Gardner-Webb (5-2, 3-0 CCSA) last competed November 22, the final day of the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational. The Bulldogs placed sixth out of nine schools in the competition. This will be the first meeting between FGCU and Gardner-Webb.
Georgia Southern (3-4 overall, 2-2 CCSA) has not competed since November 21, the final day of the Gamecock Invitational. The GSU Eagles finished seventh out of nine schools in that event. FGCU holds a 2-1 all-time record against GSU, including a 229-65 victory earlier this season.
