FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU swimming & diving team moved up to fifth in the latest CSCAA/CollegeSwimming.com Division I Mid-Major poll, released Tuesday morning. The Eagles were ranked sixth in the previous poll. FGCU has wrapped up the regular season, and now have their sights set on securing a second consecutive CCSA Championship this weekend.
The Eagles finished the regular season with a 12-3 dual meet record and recorded a perfect 6-0 record in CCSA competition. This marks FGCU’s second consecutive undefeated CCSA season after recording a perfect 5-0 CCSA record last season.
After capturing four consecutive dual meet wins, Harvard displaced Miami (OH) for the top spot in the rankings. Just behind Miami (OH) sits Boston University and Navy, with FGCU rounding out the top five.
The Eagles will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. this week for the 2010 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships, where they will look to defend their title from a year ago. The championships, which will be held at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, begin on Thursday (Feb. 18) and continue through Saturday (Feb. 20).
