FORT MYERS, Fla. – After their performances at the All-Florida Invite, FGCU swimming junior Vicky Cadge (Long Melford, Suffolk, United Kingdom/Kelly College) has been selected as the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while senior teammate Karmin McNamara (Tampa, Fla./Gaither) has been selected as the CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week following the opening meet of the season, Oct. 1-3.
Cadge was a consistent force in the Eagles’ fourth-place finish at the All-Florida Invite, as she competed in six individual events and four relays. Cadge placed sixth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.09, shaving under a minute off her preliminary time. The psychology major also finished sixth in the 100 free event, clocking 52.36 and took seventh in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.00. She placed eighth in both the 100 back (59.57) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.01), while helping the 200-medley relay (1:37.08), 200-free relay (1:37.08), 800-free relay (7:39.75) and 400-free relay (3:34.52) place fifth. Cadge also took third in the “B” final of the 50 free, with a time of 24.85.
McNamara finished 11th out of 17 divers in the 3-meter dive, earning a score of 237.15. She also had a good showing in the 1-meter dive, scoring 188.55 and placing 14th overall. The native of Tampa, Fla., is the defending CCSA champion in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
The Blue and Green are back in the pool on Saturday, October 9 as they head to Boca Raton to face FAU in their first dual meet of the season. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the FAU Aquatic Center.
