FORT MYERS, Fla. – Due to below normal temperatures forecasted for Fort Myers on Friday night, the FGCU swimming and diving meet against UNF has been moved to Saturday, January 15 at noon at the FGCU Aquatics Center.
Originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m., the weather is expected to be in the low 40s at that time, which are not ideal conditions for an outdoor meet. Saturday afternoon is expected to be in the 70s with lots of sunshine. The meet against UNF is the final conference foe FGCU will face before heading to the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championship in February.
The Blue and Green are coming off a sweep of Saturday’s quad meet against Georgia Southern, Radford and Liberty. FGCU defeated the Eagles of Georgia Southern, 236-46; picked up a win against first-year program Liberty, 235-57; and downed Radford, 250-50. The Eagles took the top three spots in four events as well as placed in the top-3 in each event.
FGCU, the back-to-back reigning CCSA Champion, is currently on a 12-meet conference winning streak. The Eagles’ last loss against a conference opponent was on Jan.19, 2008 at Georgia Southern by one point.
