Swimming & Diving Ranked 37th In National Poll

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Just a week before the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championship, the FGCU swimming & diving team received Top 25 votes in the TYR / CSCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Poll for the fourth consecutive time announced on Wednesday.

FGCU picked up 15 votes in this week’s poll to be ranked 37th. The 15 votes are the most the team has received this year. FGCU finished the season with an 11-2 dual meet record and will enter the 2011-12 season with a nine-meet winning streak. The Blue and Green own 11 top times and scores in the CCSA.

The Eagles are one of 70 women’s teams to earn votes and are ahead of Kansas, South Carolina and ACC foe Miami. FGCU is the only team from the CCSA receiving votes.

FGCU has its attention turned to defending its back-to-back conference titles at the 2011 CCSA Championship beginning on February 17 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium at the University of Georgia. The Eagles ran away with the title last year by 315 points and return nine All-Conference swimmers and divers.
