FGCU Swimming and Diving head coach Neal Studd has announced the hiring of April Woo as assistant swimming coach on Thursday, May 24. Woo comes to FGCU with three years’ experience as a Division I assistant.

FGCU Swimming and Diving freshman Emma Svensson was selected as a Mid-Major All-American, according to CollegeSwimming.com on Friday. Svensson qualified for the NCAA Championships back on March 15-17 and placed 35th in the 100 free (49.44), 34th in the 100 back (53.61) and 38th in the 50 free (22.66).

Studd and his staff will hold three sessions: session 1: June 9 - June 14 Intensive Swim Camp, session 2: June 18 - June 22 for all campers, session 3: July 9 - July 13 for all campers at the FGCU Aquatic Center.

In a shocking move, Swedish swimmer Emma Svensson has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim collegiately at lowly Florida Gulf Coast University in the fall. Svensson, who is the Swedish National Record holder in the 50 backstroke, is needless-to-say the biggest recruit in the history of the program, or possibly the entire athletics department.

After numerous lightning delays the meet was called off, with the Green Team leading the Blue Team by a score of 81-49 through nine events.
