FORT MYERS, Fla. – Junior Maegan Butler (Orangburg, N.Y./Tappan Zee HS/FAU) earned her second Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) award of the season after helping FGCU defeat FIU, 198-99, last weekend to improve to 11-2. The Eagles have won four straight dual meets to finish the regular season.
Butler picked up second-place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events last weekend in FGCU’s meet against FIU. The Orangeburg, N.Y. native also earned an NCAA Diving Zone “B” qualification in the 1-meter event with a score of 281.17. Butler is ranked first in the CCSA in 1-meter dives by 18 points heading into the conference championship.
“It’s impressive how Maegan has been able to dive at this level after being off the boards for such a long time,” said Diving coach Andy Goe. “Her success is a testament to her work ethic and her previous coaches.”
The Green and Blue are looking for their fourth-straight CCSA title on Feb.16-18 in Athens, Ga.
