FORT MYERS, Fla. – Freshman Jennifer Morgan (Edmonton, Canada/Harry Ainlay HS) and sophomore Cayla Collins (Largo, Fla./Osceola) of the FGCU women’s swimming & diving team have been named Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, by the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association, announced by the league Friday.
Collins shared the award with North Florida’s Fernanda Robles. This is the first time both student-athletes have been recognized this season.
Morgan had a good showing at the All-Florida Invitational, earning a trio of fourth place finishes. She was part of the 200-yard relay (1:36:64), 400-yard medley relay (3:53.62) and 400-yard freestyle (3:29.87), all of which finished fourth. Individually, Morgan placed fifth in both the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke with times of 56.99 and 2:03.22, respectively.
Collins competed in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the All-Florida Invite last weekend. She placed 12th on the 1-meter board with a score of 184.15 and earned a seventh place on the 3-meter board with a 227.05 total.
The Eagles will be back in action Saturday when they host Florida State in a dual meet at the FGCU Aquatics Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
