Ending the 2013-14 regular season sitting at No. 44 in the CollegeSwimming.com Top 50, the FGCU swimming & diving team will be represented at the NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship for the third-straight year as a record-setting two Eagles were named to the list of qualified swimmers, announced by the NCAA on Wednesday. Selected to compete for the third year in a row is Emma Svensson, joined by team-newcomer Kira Toussaint.

In its final head-to-head contest of the season, the FGCU swimming and diving team took home a 161-135 win from Florida Atlantic on Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton. Finishing first in seven events, second in four events and third in eight events the Eagles move to 5-3 on the season.

The FGCU women’s swimming & diving home meets against Liberty (Jan. 4) and Radford (Jan. 14) have been canceled due to emergency renovations needed at the FGCU Aquatics Center. Last month Aquatics Center staff discovered five leaks in the 50-meter pool, which require a complete de-watering to patch.

Facing fierce PAC 12 competition, the FGCU swimming & diving team set five season-high times as it picked up a win over Oregon State on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles. Competing in a quad-meet, the Eagles soared past the Beavers, but fell to Big West member UC Santa Barbara and UCLA, which received votes in the latest installment of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Top 25.

The 28th Central American and Caribbean Swimming (CCCAN) Championships got underway from San José, Costa Rica on Monday, July 1 with a trio of FGCU swimmers collecting a total of four medals. A total of 15 nations are competing in the championships hosted by the Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation.
