Freshman: With such versatility Katie was utilized in multiple events throughout the 2007-08 dual meet season with her best performances exhibited in the 200-yard and 400-yard IM. She set an FGCU team record in the 400-yard IM at the CCSA Championships with a time of 4:29.50 while earning a 3rd place finish. Her success in the finals of the 200 IM (208.31) at conference championships led to an Eagle sweep of the event. Additionally, Oke’s tie for 6th place in the 200 Back also gave 12.5 points toward the team runner-up Conference honors. She ranks in the top 5 Eagle performers for the 500, 1000, and 1650-yard Freestyle as well as 100 and 200-yard Backstroke. She will return for the 2009 season as one of the top IM performers for the Eagles and the conference.

High School: Graduated from Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School in Exeter, Canada… Was coached by Paul Midgley…As a sophomore, she won the Athletic Award and received honors in her freshman, sophomore, and senior season.

Personal: Daughter of Wayne and Debra Oak…Majoring in Marine Science…Favorite sport moment was when Simon Whitfield ran the last 200m in the first ever Olympic Triathlon and won…Favorite athlete Simon Whitfield…Favorite sport movie is Remember the Titans…One thing no one knows about Katelyn is she wanted to be a NASCAR Driver…Chose FGCU because it’s so far from home, which allows her to become a stronger person and to get a great tan.
