April Woo, who joined the Eagles in May of 2012, enters her first season as a member of the FGCU Swimming and Diving coaching staff. Woo , who swam collegiately at Pacific, came to the FGCU program following a three-year assistant coaching stint at Cleveland State.

As the sprint coach at CSU, Woo's primary responsibilities were focusing on dry-land and weight training portions of the sport, as well as assisting with day-to-day aspects of the CSU program. Upon completing her swimming career at the University of the Pacific in 2009, Woo was named as an assistant coach under head coach Wally Morton's staff. She then became driven to transfer her enthusiasm and passion for dry-land and weight training to the Cleveland State swimmers.

Woo also was the Ohio Master's swim coach for three seasons in Cleveland, Ohio. Her responsibilities included creating workouts for beginners, triathletes and competitive adult swimmer's, while holding stroke clinics to teach adults stroke technique.

During her first season, the Viking men tied a school record with 14 wins in a season, and the women were able to break the previous record of 10 set during the 1982-83 campaign with a 14-win season of their own. Woo's background in Division I swimming was evident as she assisted the men's team to a second place finish in the Horizon League Championship along with a fifth place finish for the women.

Woo was previously an instructor at Tiger Aquatics in Stockton, California, where she planned and conducted swimming workouts for people of all ages and abilities. She spent time teaching biomechanics and water safety procedures at the Pacific Swim School (also in Stockton) and the Iolani Swim School in Honolulu, Hawaii.

During her career at Pacific, Woo swam sprints in all four strokes for the Tigers. Her swimming career was capped off during her junior season, when she set personal bests in all of her strokes. She finished with an eighth place ranking in the Pacific record books in the 100 breaststroke. In 2008, she was part of the top-10 all-time 400 freestyle relay.

Woo graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
