Dan Jimar begins his fifth season working with the FGCU swimming and diving team; his current position is team manager. As the team manager, he is the offical scorer for all of FGCU’s home swim meets and is currently the records chairman for Florida Swimming; a position he has held since 2000.
Prior to attending FGCU, he competed for his local Swedish swim team and qualified for the Youth Nationals.
Jimar started his coaching career with the same team he swam for when he was a freshman in HS. Jimar has worked as an age group coach with local club, Swim Florida, for eleven years. He also was a coach for the All-Star Team three times during his tenure with Swim Florida. He coached swimmers who qualified for USA Swimming Top 16 rankings including three swimmers that won several titles in the USA Swimming Postal Distance Meets.
During a two year stint in Sweden, Dan worked as webmaster and math/computer teacher for the largest high school in Gothenburg, Sweden. During this time he also worked as an assistant coach and interim head coach for one of the local swim teams with several swimmers qualifying for Youth Nationals, Junior Nationals and Senior Nationals. One swimmer qualified for the Swedish National Team and won a bronze medal at the European Short Course Championships.
Jimar was born in Gothenburg, Sweden and currently resides in Fort Myers, Florida.
