Volleyball Announces 2007 Schedule
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University Women's Volleyball Head Coach Jaye Flood announced the 2007 Schedule today. The 2007 season features ten home matches, including the FGCU Supervolley Tournament.
The Eagles will play in four regular season tournaments including the first volleyball tournament FGCU has hosted. The Eagles open the year in the Florida State Invitational where they will face TCU and UNC-Asheville beginning on August 24. FGCU will also compete in tournaments hosted by Northern Colorado and James Madison.
FGCU returns home to host the FGCU Supervolley Tournament and will face North Carolina Central, Bethune-Cookman, and Howard University starting September 7. The match with North Carolina Central will mark the first home match as a Division I member.
Following the four tournaments, the Eagles return home again on September 21 to face Gardner-Webb in the first Atlantic Sun Conference match. The Eagles will also face new conference rival Campbell that same weekend. The Eagles then return to the road for four-matches. That swing includes A-Sun Tournament champion Belmont and in-state rival Stetson. FGCU returns home to face fellow league newcomer USC-Upstate and regular season champion ETSU beginning October 12.
