HARRISONBURG, Va. – The FGCU Volleyball team hit .339 as a team and three players recorded double-doubles in a 3-0 win over James Madison University to capture the JMU/Days Inn Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Sinclair Gymnasium.


FGCU won its ninth match in a row in its first Division I season to improve to 9-1 overall. The Eagles won by game scores of 30-19, 30-26, and 30-26.  JMU fell to 6-5 overall.


Junior Roberta Paula Santos (Recite, Brazil) was named the tournament’s most valuable player after recording 10 kills, 24 assists, two aces, and four blocks against the Dukes. She was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Chandra Lefever (Fort Morgan, Colo.) and Cara Ziegler (Fort Myers, Fla.).  Lefever had 17 assists and five digs in the match. Ziegler tallied eight kills and six blocks.


Senior Brooke Youngquist (Fort Myers, Fla.) had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Junior Ana Kokanovic (Lazarevac, Serbia) had 10 kills and 13 digs.


Senior Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio) led the Dukes with 18 kills and hit .394 against the Eagles, earning her fourth all-tournament honor of the season. Junior Michelle Johnson (Los Gatos, Calif.) had five kills and four blocks.


With tournament play now over, the Eagles will travel back home to host Gardner-Webb on Friday, September 21st at 7 p.m.
