Volleyball Travels to USF

FORT MYERS, Fla., - After reclaiming the top spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 6-1 league record, FGCU steps out of conference for a trip to Tampa to face USF in the Sun Dome on Wednesday night.

The Eagles (16-2, 6-1 A-Sun) are coming off of a 3-1 win over ETSU which propelled the team back to the top of the league standings. Junior outside hitter Ana Kokanovic led the way with an incredible effort, posting the first triple double in school history with a career-high 21 kills, 11 aces and 15 digs while hitting .432 in the match. She was named A-Sun Player of Week for the second consecutive week.

USF is currently 12-5 overall and 4-3 in the BIGEAST. They are coming off of a perfect weekend where they knocked off West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Marcela Gurgel was named BIGEAST Player of the Week after hitting .411 with 39 kills and nine aces for the week. For the season, the Bulls are hitting .217 as a team while holding opponents to .156. They are also averaging 14.25 kills per game. USF is averaging 3.18 blocks per game as well.

FGCU will be in action again on Friday night when they host Jacksonville at 7:00 pm in Alico Arena.
