Volleyball Sweeps Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga., - FGCU won their fourth straight match to even their record at 5-5 overall and remained perfect in the A-Sun at 4-0 with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-5, 25-19) over Kennesaw State. The Owls fall to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

After a slow start and the first set tied at 11 all, FGCU went on an 11-1 run to take a 22-12 lead. The Eagles would side out to put game one away 25-18. FGCU completely dominated the second set, holding KSU to just five points. FGCU hit .550 in the game while limiting KSU to (-.353) in the second set.

In the third set, KSU responded and picked up 13 kills and held a brief 3-1 lead. A quick 5-0 FGCU regained the lead for the Eagles and they would hold the lead for the remainder of the game. FGCU would cruise to a 25-19 win to clinch the match.

The Eagles knocked off 12 straight A-Sun foes with the win and improve to 14-1 all-time in the league. FGCU hit a season-high .400 in the match, pounding out 37 kills on just 80 attempts. The Eagles also served up six aces and posted seven blocks in the match. The Eagles limited the Owls to (-.013) in the match, forcing 23 hitting errors.

Ana Kokanovic led the Eagles with eight kills. Audrey Campbell picked up six kills on nine attempts, hitting .667 in the match.

The Eagles return home next Friday when they host USC Upstate at 7:00 pm in Alico Arena. The match can be seen live on A-Sun.TV.
