JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second straight year the FGCU volleyball team is the Atlantic Sun regular season champions, after defeating UNF in three sets, 25-10, 25-23, 25-18.  Ana Kokanovic led all players with 15 kills to go along with 10 digs.

The Eagles got off to a quick start, opening up a 12-3 lead to start the match.  They never looked back, taking the first set 25-10.

In the second set, the Ospreys put up a much stronger fight, jumping out to 6-2 lead.  The Eagles would come back, slowly chipping away at the UNF lead.  A 16-6 scoring run that inluded 3 kills and 2 aces from Ana Kokanovic put the Eagles in front 23-20, and they held on to take the second set 25-23.

The third set started much the same as the first, as FGCU jumped out to an 11-4 lead.  UNF closed the gap to 15-13, but the Eagles proved to be too much for the Ospreys, taking the third set 25-18.  Kokanovic again led the way with 5 kills in the set for FGCU.

For the Ospreys, who fall to 11-15 on the year (9-10 in conference), Danielle Lerch led the team with 12 kills along with 4 digs.  Julie Fye recorded 24 assists and 5 digs, and Kaley Read, one of the team leaders in nearly every category, was held to just 2 kills and seven digs.

Audrey Campbell had a solid match for the Eagles, recording 11 kills while hitting .600, Ashley Yance had 4 kills and 7 blocks, and Holly Youngquist had 9 digs.

With the victory, the Eagles conference record improves to 19-1, giving them their second Atlantic Sun regular season championship in their second year in the league.  They will close out their season at Jacksonville University tomorrow.  That match is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
