FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU volleyball team heads to Oxford, Ohio to participate in the Miami Invitational this weekend. Six matches will be played, three of which will feature the Eagles. On Friday, FGCU (2-4 overall) will take on host Miami (OH) at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Green and Blue face Alabama A&M at 12:30 p.m. and wrap things up with Radford at 5 p.m.

FGCU heads into the Miami Invitational after dropping all three of its matches at the FGCU Homewood Suites Invitational last weekend, falling 3-0 to then-No. 3 USC on Friday, and 3-0 to UCF and 3-1 to Furman on Saturday. The Eagles have five players that have registered between 25 and 60 kills so far this season, led by freshman Jill Hopper’s (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown HS) team-leading 60. Freshman Whitney Masters (Muncie, Ind./Wapahani HS) leads the team with 50 digs (2.17/set). The setting duo of freshman Gigi Meyer (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) and sophomore Camil Dominguez (Santo Domingo, D.R./Santa Teresita), has run the FGCU offense, averaging 6.78 assists and 6.46 assists per set, respectively.

FGCU’s match vs. Miami will be broadcast live on the web for FREE through the new Miami All-Access package for volleyball and live stats will be available for all matches on MURedhawks.com.

MIAMI Notes: The Redhawks are 5-2 overall after dropping two matches at the Pittsburgh Invitational last weekend. Miami fell to No. 2 Penn State, 3-0, before defeating New Hampshire, 3-1, on Friday. The Redhawks then were swept by Pittsburgh, 3-0, on Saturday in their final match of the tournament. Miami has five players with 37 or more kills, led by Jenn Caylor’s 53 kills (2.41/set).

ALABAMA A&M Notes: The Bulldogs are 2-8 on the season. They fell to Tennessee-Martin, 3-1, in their last match on Tuesday. Alabama A&M is led by senior outside hitter Karensa Beckford. She has 143 kills on the year for an average of 4.09 per set. Another top player for Alabama A&M is junior Clairissa Moore, who has 95 kills on the year.

RADFORD Notes: The Highlanders are 2-4 overall after winning a pair of matches at their home tournament last weekend. Radford defeated USC Upstate 3-2 on Friday, before sweeping Chicago State, 3-0, and dropping the tournament finale in a five-set heartbreaker to UMKC on Saturday. Radford's top player has been freshman libero Rachel Brummitt. She has recorded 121 digs, an average of 4.65 digs per set.
