The No.1 seeded Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team fought back from a 2-0 deficit, but fell to No. 4 UNF 3-2 (20-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 12-15) in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament semifinals at Allen Arena.

For the third time this season and second consecutive year in the conference tournament, the FGCU volleyball team will take on UNF on Friday, Nov. 16 at 8:30 p.m. (ET) in semifinals of the 2012 Atlantic Sun Championship at Lipscomb's Allen Arena.

After winning the Atlantic Sun regular season title and securing the No. 1 seed in the A-Sun Conference Tournament, the FGCU volleyball team (22-9, 16-2 A-Sun) landed a pair of student-athletes on the All-Conference teams and saw head coach Dave Nichols earn Coach of the Year honors, as the conference office announced its postseason awards on Tuesday.

Sophomore Jill Hopper (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown HS) registered match-highs in kills (12) and digs (15) as the Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team swept the three-time defending Atlantic Sun Champion Lipscomb Lady Bisons, 3-0 (25-19, 30-28, 25-18).

FGCU volleyball setter Gigi Meyer (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) added to her solid sophomore campaign on Thursday afternoon when she was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All‐District 4 first team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, (CoSIDA). Meyer is the lone Atlantic Sun volleyball player to receive district honors this season.
