FORT MYERS, Fla. -- With a combination of a new coaching staff, eight returning players and a strong incoming class, the FGCU women's volleyball team is prepared for the 2014 campaign. The schedule, which was released this week, includes 29 matches in cities across the United States with four tournaments and a full Atlantic Sun Conference slate.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- FGCU women's volleyball head coach Matt Botsford announced the addition of Kim Maroon to the staff this week. Maroon comes to FGCU as a former All-American at Villanova and graduate assistant coach at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and will serve as assistant coach in seasons to come.

FGCU volleyball and sand volleyball coach Dave Nichols has announced that he will resign from both positions, effective Feb. 22, 2014. Nichols has spent the past six years in charge of the volleyball program, and has been the only coach in the history of the sand volleyball program which began playing competitively in the spring of 2012.

KENNESAW, Ga. -- While competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference Semifinals for the third-consecutive year, the FGCU women's volleyball team was defeated at the hands of No. 1 Jacksonville, 3-1. The No. 4 Eagles fell by a small margin in the first two sets (25-22, 25-21) before bouncing back to win set three (25-23). The Dolphins took control of the match in the fourth set to take a 25-16 win and advance to the A-Sun Championship final.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- In the final match of the regular season, the FGCU women's volleyball team fell to Lipscomb, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Allen Arena. The Lady Bison attack was too much for the Eagles early on, as FGCU fell in the first two sets (25-20, 25-13). The Eagles ultimately fell 3-0 with a 25-19 loss in set three. With the loss, the Eagles conclude the season with a record of 13-18 including a 9-9 Atlantic Sun record, while the Bison finish the season at 21-7 and 15-3 in conference play.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The FGCU women's volleyball team fell behind early against Stetson Saturday afternoon and ultimately fell, 3-1, after being unable to mount a large enough comeback. The team fell in the first two sets (25-20, 25-13) but bounced back with a win in set three (25-17). The Eagles challenged the Hatters in the final stanza but could not steal the advantage. A 25-23 win in set four gave the visiting team the win and helped Stetson earn a position in the Atlantic Sun Championship Tournament with a record of 18-13 (9-7 A-Sun). The Eagles fall to 12-17 (8-8 A-Sun) with the loss.

The home team earned a win in set one (25-21) before the Eagles responded to take set two (25-22). FGCU earned a win set three (25-21) but allowed the Ospreys to even the match with a ‘W’ in set four (25-21) and saw as the match was ultimately decided by just a few points in the fifth set. UNF earned a 17-15 win in the final stanza to take the match, 3-2.
