ST. PETERSBURG, Fla – Florida Gulf Coast University defeated Eckerd College in three games (30-26, 30-23, 30-25) in a South Region volleyball match Friday night.
It was the second time this fall the Eagles have swept the Tritons in three games.
Junior middle blocker Devon Watts led the Eagles with 15 kills and seven blocks. Senior middle blocker Kristy Hartley also had 15 kills while adding four blocks. FGCU finished with 18 team blocks to stifle the Eckerd offensive attack. Sophomore setter Laura Manovill passed out 32 assists and freshman libero Whitney Hendry recorded 18 digs for the Eagles.
Outside hitter Brittany Kauss led the Tritons with 13 kills.
FGCU improves to 15-4 on the season and will travel to Saint Leo on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. match.
