Eagles Volleyball Team Overpowers Lions

ST. LEO, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University overpowered Saint Leo University 3-1 in four games (25-30, 30-21, 30-27, 30-18) in a South Region volleyball match Saturday night. Three starters registered double figures in kills to lead a balanced offensive attack for the Eagles, who improved to 16-4. Senior middle blocker Kristy Hartley (Naples) led the attack with 20 kills, while freshman middle blocker Lauren Stockman-Puder (Fort Myers) and freshman hitter Brooke Youngquist (Fort Myers) added 16 kills each. Youngquist also chipped in with 17 digs for her first career double-double. Sophomore setter Laura Manovill (Dunedin) tallied 52 assists in the match, the fourth match she has recorded 50 or more assists. FGCU held a .309 attack percentage while Saint Leo hit just .237. It was the second time this fall that the Eagles have beaten the Lions. FGCU will travel to Lynn University on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match. Florida Gulf Coast def.
