BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University rallied from a first-game loss to knock off Lynn University in four games (28-30, 30-17, 30-15, and 30-24) in a NCAA Division II South Region volleyball match Tuesday night.
After dropping the first game, the Eagles shut down the Lynn offensive attack, holding the Fighting Knights to a .046 attack percentage for the match. Freshman hitter Heather Van Olst (Loxahatchee) posted a double-double with 15 kills and 22 digs to lead the Eagles. Junior hitter Devon Watts (Somerville, TX) recorded a team-high 17 kills while freshman libero Whitney Hendry added 21 digs and junior Ingrid Felicio (Sarasota) pitched in 15 digs.
FGCU upped its record to 17-4 overall, and 15-4 in the South Region. The Eagles travel to Nova Southeastern for their second match of the season with the Knights on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
