Volleyball Wins NCAA First Round Match

Tampa, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast recorded a 3-0 victory over Presbyterian in the opening game on the NCAA South Regional on Friday afternoon. The Eagles were victorious by scores of 30-16, 30-18, 30-25 to improve to 26-3 overall. Presbyterian's season comes to an end at 32-5. FGCU was led by junior middle blocker Ericka Fonseca, who recorded a team high 15 kills and six blocks, while posting a .609 hitting percentage. Senior libero Ingrid Felicio paced the Eagles defense with 11 digs and junior setter Laura Manovill had 23 assists. Presbyterian was led by Jasmin Brown and Erin Friday, who had 10 kills apiece. Friday also led the Blue Hose with 14 digs as Rachel Lewis had 20 assists. FGCU advances to the NCAA South Region Semifinals on Saturday at 5:00 pm to play the winner of the Florida Southern-Wingate match.
