The University of Tampa, led by South Region Player of the Year Ericka Womack, advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 2003 with a 3-0 sweep of Florida Gulf Coast. The scores of the games were 32-30, 30-27, 30-15. Tampa improves to 28-3 on the season as it will play in the NCAA Elite Eight for the ninth time in the history of the program. Florida Gulf Coast finishes its season with a 27-4 record. Womack led the Spartans with a team-high 22 kills and four blocks. The nation’s leader in hitting percentage posted a .700 hitting percentage on the match while pacing Tampa in the first two games with a percentages of .857 and .800. Margeaux Sinibaldi led Tampa with 16 digs as Gabriela Saade had 56 assists. Kayla Mora (12) and Katelen Dixon (11) also posted double figures in kills. Florida Gulf Coast was led by Devon Watts, who had 10 kills. Whitney Hendry had 20 digs as Laura Manovill had 19 assists. Tampa advances to the NCAA Elite Eight to face Concordia-St. Paul on December 1 at 2:30 pm. The site has yet to be announced.
