FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU volleyball team rolled to their 11th straight win with a 3-0 sweep of Atlantic Sun rival Campbell. The Eagles are now 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic Sun. Campbell falls to 6-11 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Game one was dominated by Ana Kokanovic (Lazarevac, Servia), who served 13 consecutive points including five aces during that span that gave FGCU a 21-10 lead in game one. Once the Eagles gained the lead, they soared to victory 30-19.
After FGCU took an early seven point lead, the Camels came back and cut FGCU’s lead to four, but could get no closer. The Eagles used a late 7-0 run to easily take game two 30-19.
Trailing 8-7, Chandra Lefever (Fort Morgan, Col.) served up an impressive eleven points for the Eagles giving the Eagles an 18-8 lead. From there, FGCU coasted to a 30-19 win.
Femi Alabi led Campbell with nine kills on the evening while Melissa Harvey added eight digs for the guest.
Four Eagles hit over .400 on the night while Brooke Youngquist (Fort Myers, Fla.) and Kokanovich each had 12 kills. Roberta Santos (Recife, Brazil) added 10 kills for the Eagles and Whitney Hendry led all players with 18 digs on the night.
The FGCU Eagles will be in action again on September 25 at Alico Arena and will be taking on Barry University at 7:00 p.m.
