The Atlantic Sun Conference has announced that Florida Gulf Coast University will host the 2009 & 2010 A-Sun Volleyball Championships at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla.

FGCU Head Volleyball Coach Dave Nichols has announced the 2009 volleyball schedule. The back-to-back A-Sun Regular Season Champions will play 10 home contests, all 10 Atlantic Sun foes plus travel to the University of Southern California to participate in the Holiday Inn LA City Center Trojan Invitational.

After wrapping up back-to-back A-Sun Championships, the FGCU volleyball team begins to collect post-season hardware. Seniors Ana Kokanovic and Roberta Santos earned First Team All-Atlantic Sun honors. Holly Youngquist earned All-Freshman Team honors.

FGCU won the first five-set match in Alico Arena as Ana Kokanovic set a school record for kills in a game with 37. FGCU handed Mercer a 3-2 loss (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 26-28, 15-10) to improve to 17-6 overall and 15-1 in the Atlantic Sun while Mercer falls to 16-8 and 11-5.

The USA Volleyball Men's Junior National team will hold a scrimmage on July 31 at 7:00 pm in Alico Arena. The team is currently the eighth ranked team in the world. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
