Volleyball Knocked off by NAU, 3-1

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Jelena Simic recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 11 digs while hitting .214 and Chandra Lefever added 44 assists as the Eagles fell to the Lumberjacks of NAU, 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19), in the 2009 Holiday Inn LA City Center Trojan Invitational at the Galen Center.

NAU's Lexi Sullivan had three digs and a team-high 19 digs in the victory for NAU (2-3) with Lauren Campbell adding 15 kills and seven digs.

Simic’s (Lazarevac, Serbia) 19 kills led the Eagles (1-4), while Chandra Lefever (Fort Morgan, Col.) picked up a team-high 44 assists.

FGCU shot out of the gate and led NAU 16-11 in the first set. The Lumberjacks fought back and cut the Eagles lead to two (22-20) before an attack error by NAU and kills by Emma Racilla (Fort Myers, Fla.) and Simic helped the Blue and Green close out the set win.

NAU was able to battle the Eagles in the second, third, and fourth sets and went on to win the match 3-1.

FGCU hit a season-high .197 and posted 12 service aces, while the Lumberjacks hit .289.
