FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU volleyball team heads to Georgia this weekend to take on Kennesaw State and Mercer this Friday and Saturday. The Eagles will be looking to extend a three-match winning streak as they continue to fight for second place in the A-Sun.

The Lady Owls (15-9, 9-7) will host Florida Gulf Coast (14-10, 13-4) at the KSU Convocation Center on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Bears (8-17, 6-10) welcome the Eagles into the University Center on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both matches can be seen on ASun.TV.

FGCU handed both Kennesaw State and Mercer a loss when they visited Alico Arena earlier this season, defeating KSU, 3-0, and Mercer, 3-1.The Eagles played stellar defense against the Lady Owls, holding them to a -.011 hitting percentage. Mercer gave the Eagles a strong fight, but the Eagles depth proved to be too much. Four Eagles reached double-figures in kills and five recorded 10+ digs, including 20 each for Chandra Lefever (Fort Morgan, Colo.) and Jelena Simic (Lazarevac, Serbia).

The Eagles currently sit in second place in the Atlantic Sun standings, holding a 13-4 conference record. Lipscomb (23-3, 17-0) has already clinched the number one seed for the conference tournament, leaving FGCU to battle Jacksonville for second place. The Dolphins (16-7, 12-4) are in third place, but are tied with the Eagles in the loss column. The last few conference matches will determine match-ups as well as potential first-round byes, which only go to the top two seeds in the conference tournament. The A-Sun tournament, hosted by FGCU this year, will be held at Alico Arena November 19-21.
